We worked together on science curriculum for our district for 15 years. Our teaching philosophies were similar, but implemented at different levels. The result was aspects of elementary and secondary methods for teaching science became integrated at all levels.

The introduction of the NGSS shifted science teaching in a new direction. The NGSS spirals topic bundles and builds increasingly complex student understanding of science. The science processing skills and crosscutting concepts developed by the students are used in their academic lives as well as beyond the classroom.
